Specialist Community Program
The Specialist Community Program, SCP is an innovative program that provides support for adults with complex needs such as those with genetic disorders like Prader-Willi Syndrome.
Individuals with Prader-Willi Syndrome experience no satiety from eating. This can lead to problems in general well being and therefore, quality of life.

Our Program
The SCP focuses on 24 hour individual care, with highly structured routines.
Each individual’s program is planned to suit their own needs, to increase their quality of life and encourage participation in community and leisure activities.
We aim to improve our service user’s quality of life by providing support in a variety of areas such as social, domestic and interpersonal skills, as well as vocational training and placement.
At Interaction Disability Services our programs are designed to balance care and protection of the individual, with respect for their independence and autonomy, to ensure a better quality of life.
To reach a better understanding of complex support needs such as the Prader-Willi Syndrome, the program also provides an information resource to the community.
Our Philosophy
Quality of life is important for all of us. Unless people with complex needs such as Prader-Willi Syndrome are provided with adequate and appropriate support in the community they have little chance of a good quality of life.
In order to ensure a good quality of life for our service users we provide a personalised living environment respecting a person’s right to choice, their dignity and their privacy.
We believe that the family plays an important role in a person’s life and encourage family and friends to play an active role in our service user’s lives.
We encourage our service users to participate in their community, enabling them to establish independence wherever possible. We recognise that people with complex needs such as Prader-Willi Syndrome require specialized support in order to lead active valued lives in the community.
Staff are committed to work within the principles of the Disability Services Act, State and Federal. As a result of our philosophy we are internationally recognized as providing best practice in the support of people with Prader-Willi Syndrome.
